Pest Control During COVID-19
The status of COVID-19 is rapidly evolving. That being said pest control during COVID-19 is essential to protecting public health. During a human crisis such as COVID-19, arthropod and vertebrate pests do not decrease. In fact, they could turn into more serious problems. As we navigate through spring and into summertime mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, termites, ants, and other stinging insects will be prevalent.
What Superior Spray Service Is Doing:
During these times of uncertainty, we are emphasizing open communication with our employees and customers. We realize your need for pest control during COVID-19 does not diminish and we are dedicated to keeping your home and businesses pest-free.
Physical & Social Distancing
We also understand that physical and social distancing of at least 6ft is paramount during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the pest management industry, we already practice physical distancing when applying pesticides. This is to ensure you, your family, customers and other parties present are protected from drifting pesticides.
Thankfully, due to the nature of our profession, members in the pest management field are generally healthy. It is true that most healthy people infected with the virus will have mild symptoms, but this is the danger: You may be asymptomatic for COVID-19 and unknowingly transmit it to others.
Personal Protection Equipment
We are taking COVID-19 seriously. Risk increases with exposure. Superior Spray Service is minimizing exposure to COVID-19 by requiring our techs to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment. Our staff is already familiar with using PPE for pesticides, rodent, and vector control work. PPE is critical under these circumstances.
Limiting services to outside when possible.
Many of our services allow us to treat pests from the perimeter of your home or business. This means our technicians do not need to make any personal contact with our customers. In fact, most problems start from pests that come in from outside, including those that endanger food safety, eldercare and other health-related facilities.
Pests that can be treated from the exterior include:
- Fire ants and other stinging insects
- Ticks & Fleas
- Termites (prevention)
Interior Pest Control during COVID-19
In some cases, we will need to treat the interior of your property. We ask that customers and technicians maintain a physical distance of at least 6 feet from each other. However, this practice is already widely observed for inside services in order for our technicians to concentrate on providing the best and safest service.
Pests that may need to be treated from the interior include:
- German cockroaches
- Bed bugs
Call Ahead Notifications
You may also request a call-ahead notification before we perform a service. This will allow us to inform you of our intended arrival so that you can be mindful of social-distancing before we arrive on property.

FAQs (provided by PMU – Pest Management University and the University of Florida)
Why is COVID-19 so bad and spreading so fast? COVID-19 is a “novel” virus and is spreading much like invasive species spread in a new area when unchecked. Think tawny crazy ant. They are bad for a while, then plateau. With COVID-19, the window of time to the plateau will depend on people cooperating with guidance and minimizing their exposure to others.
Where did COVID-19 come from? We believe it started in an animal then jumped to humans. Viruses mutate. For example, we’ve known about Zika since 1947, but a mutation caused the virulent strain that resulted in microcephaly and other human illnesses.
